A Jew ‘Moving BACK to America’?!

Rabbi Chaim Ze’ev Malinowitz zatzal’s son-in-law reports:
When people would say “I’m moving back to America” Rabbi Malinowitz would remark: A Jew who lives in Eretz Yisrael doesn’t move “back” to America.
His place is here.
You can say “I’m moving to America“.

Lemoine handles even more delicate matters extremely well. The WSJ had already established that the national health authorities in China only learned of the growing Wuhan disease outbreak at the very end of December, and he persuasively argues that their local counterparts in that city had only become aware a few days earlier. But in Part I of his series, he also includes a discordant early paragraph mentioning that multiple US Intelligence sources had disclosed to ABC News that in late November a unit of our own Defense Intelligence Agency had distributed a secret report describing a “cataclysmic” disease outbreak taking place in Wuhan and warning our military forces stationed in East Asia to take appropriate health precautions. Lemoine correctly notes that the claims “made no sense” since “there is simply no way US intelligence could have known that an epidemic was underway at the time.” Therefore, he concludes that the report never existed and that the leaks were false information provided by enemies of Donald Trump in an effort to embarrass the president.

But as an extremely diligent researcher he surely must be aware that Israeli TV had independently confirmed the existence of that secret DIA report, disclosing that it had been widely distributed both to their own government and to our NATO allies. However, if Lemoine had acknowledged the reality that our intelligence agencies were fully aware of the Wuhan outbreak more than a month before anyone in China, the obvious implications would be too explosive to avoid considering. And any such discussion would have ensured that his very important 31,000 word series never appeared in any respectable venue. But by including that crucial paragraph, he may at least have begun to raise questions in the minds of his establishmentarian readers.

An effective media strategy may often require a division of labor, with different horses for different courses. Given that my own writings and webzine lack the “mainstream respectability” of Quillette, I can be much more candid in my analyses, and will once again repeat a few of the crucial paragraphs I had first published back in April:

But with the horrific consequences of our own later governmental inaction being obvious, elements within our intelligence agencies have sought to demonstrate that they were not the ones asleep at the switch. Earlier this month, an ABC News story cited four separate government sources to reveal that as far back as late November, a special medical intelligence unit within our Defense Intelligence Agency had produced a report warning that an out-of-control disease epidemic was occurring in the Wuhan area of China, and widely distributed that document throughout the top ranks of our government, warning that steps should be taken to protect US forces based in Asia. After the story aired, a Pentagon spokesman officially denied the existence of that November report, while various other top level government and intelligence officials refused to comment. But a few days later, Israeli television mentioned that in November American intelligence had indeed shared such a report on the Wuhan disease outbreak with its NATO and Israeli allies, thus seeming to independently confirm the complete accuracy of the original ABC News story and its several government sources.

It therefore appears that elements of the Defense Intelligence Agency were aware of the deadly viral outbreak in Wuhan more than a month before any officials in the Chinese government itself. Unless our intelligence agencies have pioneered the technology of precognition, I think this may have happened for the same reason that arsonists have the earliest knowledge of future fires.

The deadly SARS and MERS outbreaks in East Asia and the Near East had never significantly spread back to America (or Europe), so the plotters wrongly assumed that the same would be the case with Covid-19. Anyway, since international organizations always ranked the US and Europe as having the best and most effective public health systems for combating any disease epidemic, they believed that any possible blowback damage would be very minor.

Were You Fined for Going Outside Last Year? You May Be Entitled to a Refund!

Disclaimer: This message was sent to me, but I cannot vouch for its accuracy!

Communicated:

A year ago, in October 2020, one of the Corona rules forbade people from being more than a kilometer from their homes (excepting essential workers). This included attending a demonstration. The Supreme Court ruled that this rule was unconstitutional, due to the fact that it prevented people from protesting.  Because it is impossible to distinguish between people leaving their homes to protest and people leaving their homes for any other reason, all fines handed out for being too far from home between the first and thirteenth of October 2020 have been canceled.

Authorites sent messages to people who were fined between October first and thirteenth 2020, inviting them to receive a refund. So far, of the 17,787 who were fined, 12,357 have been refunded. The refunds so far total 7,565,876 shekels.

If you were fined during this period, and have not yet received a refund, check your eligibility here: https://www.gov.il/he/service/receipt-of-refund-for-payment-corona-fines . If you are eligible, you can go to the nearest post office and present your teudat zehut to receive your refund.  No bank details or other identifying information is required.

Again, I cannot vouch for the above.

Israel’s trick to bypass ‘chametz’ ban for Passover

Published On 25 Mar 2018

“אכן מצאת מקום חרפתי.”

For the Passover Feast, the Jewish state makes the sale because, during the Passover, Jews may not possess any food containing fermented grains.

So, for about 20 years, the state of Israel has been temporarily selling to Hussein Jabar its prohibited food items, in an annual ritual.

In supermarkets, shelves containing such foods are usually covered up. Private households may freely decide what they put on their table.

In the Feast of the Passover, Jews worldwide celebrate the departure of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. During the week of Passover, the Torah forbids consuming “chametz” – any food items that contain grains which have fermented. The possession of chametz is also prohibited.

Symbolic purchase

Rabbi Jeffrey Woolf of Bar-Ilan University points out that the sale of chametz to Jabar has high symbolic value. “But it is really so, that under Jewish and civil law, it is the non-Jew who possesses chametz.”

Each year, the 53-year-old Palestinian citizen of Israel assumes an important task for the Israeli state: During the period of the Feast of the Passover, he symbolically purchases all leavened bread, as well as cakes, biscuits, noodles and even beer – all on behalf of the Jewish religion.

“If I can help them, then why not?” says Jabar, who is from the village of Abu Gosh, near Jerusalem. “For 10 days, I become a millionaire,” adds the Muslim believer with a laugh.

Jabar is clearly pleased by the interest being shown him. Behind the powerfully built man wearing a dark suit, there are pictures on the wall showing him together with previous Israeli prime ministers Yitzhak Rabin and Ehud Olmert, as well as with the current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Sitting in his office in a hotel in Jerusalem, Jabar explains how, each year, he pays around $5,600 to Israel’s highest Jewish authority, the Chief Rabbinate. In a ceremonial act, both parties sign an agreement. This year’s ceremony is set to take place on March 29, with Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon and Israel’s two chief rabbis.

The money is a down payment for goods which, by the latest estimates, are valued at more than $240m, Jabar says. For his money, he receives a list of all the pertinent food items, be they from the army, hospitals or schools. He is also given all the necessary keys to the premises involved.

Up until the Middle Ages, Jews would simply consume, give away or throw away their chametz before Passover. But in the late Middle Ages, Jews began brewing beer and became tavern keepers – so they could no longer simply throw away their chametz stores. “Under these circumstances, the rabbis of Eastern and Central Europe came up with the idea of selling chametz,” Woolf said. “We are speaking here of a legal loophole.” The non-Jew temporarily purchases the chametz, and then later on – after Passover – sells it back again.

Today, the Israeli state, as well as factories, restaurants and hotels accord the Chief Rabbinate the right to sell their chametz to Jabar in their name. “He is given 10 days’ time to conclude the purchase,” says Rabbi Elieser Simcha Weiss of the Chief Rabbinate, about the previously agreed-on procedure. “If he does not pay the remainder by the end of Passover, then the deal is void.” When that happens, Jabar gets his down payment back – and the chametz items are returned to their original owners.
