A female reader (yes, I added that to ‘Poison the Well’!) is critical of the “Esser Kedushos” focus here at Hyehudi.org.

I rephrase the argument:

Hyehudi is supposed to be about Judaism, without labels.

Well, “Judaism” includes a lot more than Jerusalem and even… the Holy Temple.

Your conscious inclusion of this song reminds me of the people who think about Shabbos all week long, and of nothing else. Every mitzvah you talk to them about, they find a way to connect to Shabbos (else they start dozing off).

“There are more things in heaven and earth, Hyehudi, than are dreamt of in your philosophy!”

Yikes. Maybe she’s right…

The M.B. quotes the Shelah saying to remove Tefillin shel Rosh with the weaker hand, to show קשה עלי פרידתכם. (Not Tefillin shel Yad.)

On the other hand, mitzvos are generally done with the stronger hand, and if one is saying the Bracha of לשמור חוקיו upon removing Tefillin at the end of the day, how is this any different from taking down the Sukkah or bringing in dishes to the Sukkah?

So, is it about showing respect, as in leaving the Mikdash slowly, or is it about guilt feelings?
