כתב הרמ”א או”ח קצ”ג ג’:

המנהג שלא לזמן בבית עובד כוכבים ונראה לי הטעם משום דלא יוכלו לקבוע עצמן בבית עובד כוכבים משום יראת העובד כוכבים ועוד דיש לחוש לסכנה אם ישנו בנוסח הברכה ולא יאמרו הרחמן יברך ב”ה הזה, ולכן מתחלה לא קבעו עצמן רק לברך כל א’ לבדו, ולכן אין לשנות המנהג אף אם לא היו טעמים אלו מספיקים, מ”מ מאחר דכבר נהגו כך הוי כאלו לא קבעו עצמן ביחד.

א. הלא אם יש שלושה, מה יש לירא מהגוי? עיין יו”ד קנ”ו א’:

אין מסתפרים מהעובד כוכבים אלא במקום שמצויין בני אדם, או אם אותו העובד כוכבים מדמה שאותו ישראל הוא אדם חשוב: הגה – ויש מחמירין שלא להסתפר מעובד כוכבים, אפילו במקום רבים, בתער, אם לא שיראה במראה. (תוספות ומרדכי פא”מ). ונהגו להקל כסברא ראשונה.

(אולי הטעם למנהג שלא יזמינו גוי על מאכל חשוב משום חתנות?)

וכבר חלקו האחרונים ע”ז, ואין המנהג כן (אבל לא בדקתי מנהג האנטי-ציונים…).

אגב, כמה אירוני לראות שסילפו במפעל ויקיטקסט, והשמיטו את הטעם השני ברמ”א (וממילא גם נאלצו לשנות אח”כ ללשון יחיד [“טעם זה מספיק“] להסתיר את הזיוף).

Dictators hilariously belabor the obvious (unsure why).

On Gaddafi’s “Green Book“:

And read the memorable conversations between dictators J. Stalin and E. Hoxha.

“We have sent them to the Myzeqe zone where there are more swamps,” I said, “and have given our specialists all your instructions.”

“Good,” said Comrade Stalin. “They must take care that they sprout and grow. It is a tree that grows very fast and has a great effect on moisture.  Stalin clearly saw that people who had been farming their lands through many generations desperately needed party cadre officers to tell them what to plant. One had only to look at the remarkable results the Soviets had achieved through collectivization to know that.

“No longer mandatory reading, these volumes languish, neglected by all but die-hard loyalists, masochists, and those inclined to morbid curiousity.”
