Q&A: Why Erev Rav Prophecies Are SO PALE
Q: Yes, the Zohar predicts the souls of the Erev Rav will rule over us at the end of times, but the crimes and abuses attributed to them are so bland. In real life, it’s far worse (you wish they were building synagogues to aggrandize themselves!). Why is that?
A: The Zohar is talking about the Divinely preordained, bare minimum. To expedite the redemption (I recently read this but can’t find the reference), and due to our many sins, the Erev Rav is worse than it had to be.
