Golda Meir when asked if she believes in God, answered:

“I believe in the Jewish people, and the Jewish people believe in God.”

She meant no, yemach shema veyovad zichra. Politicians’ idol is, of course, power and its psychic rewards, but public prudence then demanded her posturing. And yet, avoiding irreligious speech שלא לשמה is an example of worthy politeness. Wikipedia footnotes it here.

Medrash Rabba Esther 10:11:

אנדריאנוס קיסר אמר לו לרבי יהושע, גדולה היא הכבשה שעומדת בין שבעים זאבים. אמר לו, גדול הוא הרועה שמצילה ושוברן לפניהם. הה”ד כל כלי יוצר עליך לא יצלח וגו’.

Ward is credited with the idea: “The best way to get the right answer on the Internet is not to ask a question, it’s to post the wrong answer.” This refers to the observation that people are quicker to correct a wrong answer than to answer a question.
