Chein V’chavod Yitein Hashem

A Yid once came to Reb Yechezkel Kazshminer Z”l and asked him the following question.

A friend of his found favor in the eyes of the local porutz (wealthy landowner) and because of this, he saw much hatzlacha in his parnassa. The Yid explained that an opportunity has come up for him, and he too has the chance to find favor in the porutz’s eyes. Should he do the same? Should he try and become friendly with the porutz and look forward to a better parnassa?

Reb Yechezkel answered: “Dovid Hamelech says (84:12), ‘Chein V’chavod Yitein Hashem,’ meaning – that Hashem gives charm and honor. How can we understand such a pasuk? Hashem gives us everything! Why is Dovid Hamalech singling out chein and kavod?”

Continued Reb Yechezkel, “In order to obtain his needs, a person needs to do hishtadlus. A person needs to invest his efforts into achieving his goals. By doing his hishtadlus, Hashem will give him what he requests. But, if a person feels that he needs to find favor in his friend’s eyes (chein) or receive honor (kavod), then he doesn’t have to do hishtadlus. He doesn’t have to invest. Only Hashem will grant such a desire to those deserving. ‘Chein V’chavod Yitein Hashem.’

“Chein which comes from hishtadlus,” he concluded, “does not have any chein…”

So to try and find favor in the porutz’s eyes, there is definitely no gain…!

רוצה להצליח? אל תיקח קרדיט

בימים של בחירות רביעיות ברצף, של פוליטיקאים ומפלגות שבאים והולכים, נפטר אתמול אדם שמזכיר לנו איך אפשר להנהיג ולהשפיע ולשנות עולמות גם בדרכים אחרות.

משה (מושקו) מושקוביץ, בן 96, היה איש חינוך ומעש שהקים עשרות מוסדות חינוך, יישובים, ישיבות ומפעלים. הוא עלה בגיל צעיר והיה ללוחם במחתרות, שזכה לראות בני נינים. מכל מה שנכתב ונאמר עליו, למדתי כמה דברים:

• “העיקר – לעשות”. ביום השלישי של מלחמת ששת הימים, עוד לפני סיום המלחמה, הוא כבר כתב תכנית מפורטת להקמת גוש עציון. כשכולם עוד התרגשו ולא עיכלו, הוא כבר תיכנן צעדים מעשיים. “הקדוש ברוך הוא מזמין אותנו בדור הזה לקחת אחריות ולפעול עמו”, הסביר.

• שני ערכי יסוד בסיסיים ליוו את חייו – עלייה וחינוך. בצעירותו, בימי המנדט הבריטי, היה אחראי לעליית 57 אלף עולים ממחנות המעצר בקפריסין, ואחר כך משך קהילה אמריקאית שלמה מניו יורק לעלות יחד לארץ. ובכל מקום הקים קודם כל בית ספר או ישיבה. “סביב מוסדות החינוך תצמח קהילה”, הסביר.

• לא להפסיק לעבוד. בגיל 90 פלוס ניהל סדר יום עמוס, היה אחראי להצלת מאות ספרי תורה שנותרו על אדמת אירופה ורק לפני כמה ימים עוד הרים טלפונים לגבי הקמת מוסד חדש לנוער בסיכון. בריאיון אחרון שנתן לפני כמה שבועות, אמר: “אני כבר הכנתי תכנית, אני יכול להראות לכם, על מה יהיה בשנת ה-100 למדינת ישראל. זו תכנית גדולה ויפה ונהדרת”.

• בלי קרדיט. לאורך כל שנות פעילותו, מושקו לא הגיע לטקסים ולא רצה לגזור סרטים. את זה השאיר למכובדים ולמפורסמים: “הרבה מהצלחותיי נבעו מכך שלא התנגשתי עם אנשים, והשארתי להם את הפרסום ואת הכבוד”, אמר. עכשיו, אחרי פטירתו, הוא מגיע למקום שבו יודעים היטב כל מה שעשה.
