We have already noted the myopia of blaming the State of Israel’s problems on “Zionism”, instead of the nature of state power generally. When anti-Zionists notice the harm done by this state, instead of gleaning insights about unintended consequences and the nature of those attracted by “monopolies on force” in any area and by any individuals, they learn nothing at all.
In Charedi protests against Shabbos desecration in 5716, the police beat a Gerrer Chassid, Pinchas Segalov, who later passed away. So, the government made an “inquiry“. The Brisker Rav said at the time, that such investigations are solely to remove all responsibility, and indeed, the ludicrous conclusion was that the man died of a “totally unrelated” heart attack, and not the blows themselves… (מאיר ליברמן זצ”ל ׁׁהחומה תמוז תשנ”ח).
But so-called “independent” governmental investigations are frequently a face-saving farce the world over, nothing to do with Israel, or foolish auto-antisemitism!
