Why Did Shraga Feivel Mendlowitz Reject the Title of ‘Rabbi’?

The following theory makes the most sense to me:

He insisted on being referred to as “Mister Mendlowitz“, but it wasn’t simple humility; the individuals then called “rabbis” were a disgrace to the profession, doing anything and everything for impiety and ignorance, such as certifiying nonkosher meat, thereby voiding the title of any positive significance.

There is a lesson here.
