Several Poskim have wondered at the “custom” of obligating people to donate to the shul when they get an aliyah without asking them first.
A new siddur, name of “Si’ach Tefillah”, including some relevant parts of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky’s “Shoneh Halachos” summary of the Mishna Berurah (and some unpublished matter from RCK on the Chazon Ish) tries to solve the problem.
