פרשת ויצא – אמנם התורה במשמעות “הוראה” באה ללמד יראת שמים וכל הנובע ממנה בלבד, ברם חשוב גם שיראי השם יצליחו בחיים, ועל כן ייעצו לנו חז”ל בכמה מקומות כיצד להתעשר, והתורה חסה על ממונן של ישראל.
יעקב הגיע ללבן, והתחיל מיד לעבוד. איך אני יודע?
כתוב “ויספר ללבן את כל הדברים האלה. ויביאהו אל ביתו… ויאמר לו לבן אך עצמי ובשרי אתה וישב עמו חדש ימים”.
לפי רש”י, סיפר לו יעקב שהוא עני, ולכן הכניסו לבן כ”עצמו ובשרו”. אבל יעקב לא אכל אצלו בחינם, כמו שמציין רש”י. יעקב התחיל מיד לעבוד, והיה עובד חרוץ, לכן לבן נאלץ להתחיל לשלם לו, כדי שלא ישכיר אותו בעל בית אחר. זה לא לקח יותר מחודש להלחיץ אותו. כך רואים בדברי לבן: “ויאמר לבן ליעקב הכי אחי אתה ועבדתני חנם הגידה לי מה משכרתך…”.
רק אחר כך עבד שבע שנים ועוד שבע (שניהם באמונה, רש”י כ”ט ל’), וענתה בו צדקתו.
הרמב”ם מסיים את הלכות שכירות בפסוקים מפרשתנו – פרשת ויצא:
כדרך שמוזהר בעה”ב שלא יגזול שכר עני ולא יעכבנו כך העני מוזהר שלא יגזול מלאכת בעה”ב ויבטל מעט בכאן ומעט בכאן ומוציא כל היום במרמה אלא חייב לדקדק על עצמו בזמן…
וכן חייב לעבוד בכל כחו שהרי יעקב הצדיק אמר “כי בכל כחי עבדתי את אביכן” לפיכך נטל שכר זאת אף בעולם הזה שנאמר “ויפרץ האיש מאד מאד”.
(ואולי מדובר שם רק על התקופה שלאחר החודש הראשון.)
מעשה אבות סימן לבנים: כדאי גם לנו ליישם את הרעיון. שווה לעבוד בתחילה במשכורת נמוכה של דמי קיום או לינה, בשכר מינימום, אם אפשר, או אפילו בפחות. הכל על מנת להוכיח לבעל הבית שאתה עובד ריציני, חרוץ ואמין. זה עדיף על קורות חיים רהוט והמלצות לרוב. אחר כך הוא כבר ירוץ לשלם לך את מחיר השוק המקומי, לא מנדיבות לבו, אלא כדי שלא תברח לו למעביד אחר!

Ben M. Freeman, author of The Jews: An Indigenous People and the acclaimed Jewish Pride trilogy, told The Independent that he was in the process of applying for Israeli citizenship and plans to move to Israel after spending much of his life in Britain.
He said the difficult decision came after spending months worrying about his safety in London. “Every time I left my house for about a year after October 7, I wondered if I would be attacked or stabbed.”

Mr Freeman said in the wake of the Manchester synagogue attack on 2 October that he believes other people will now “be having more serious conversations” about leaving, too.
“It’s really – especially if you have a family – such a difficult thing to know when and what to do,” he said, alluding to similar considerations faced by Jews who stayed in Germany in the 1930s. “But people are having the conversation. Everyone I know is having a version of the conversation.”
Apparently, he also posted on Twitter 4 years ago saying “The Jews of America are no longer safe. I’m devastated for them & I’m desperately hoping they understand the threat they are facing” (I don’t have access).
Mr Freeman said he “always felt very British”, voted and “took part in my civic duty”. But now he feels he is being “forced out”.

He added: “There is a place that I can go, that, yes, has its own issues and its own danger, but there’s a place I can go where I’ll be the majority and I’ll be in my indigenous land.”
