The Gemara in Berachos 30a seems to say that if the lengthening in traveling time doesn’t disturb him, and if the rest of the “caravan” doesn’t mind, one should preferably stand for Tefillas Haderech.
No one does this, but Rabbi Steinman did.
I don’t want to go into the Minchas Shlomo, etc., but he would say the Beracha on the way from Bnei Brak to Tel Aviv (but I heard this a long time ago).
