A Grating Lack of Grammar

Know what makes me sad? When some Jews say “Bassar dagim vechagavim”.

As in Mishna Chulin 8:1:

כל הבשר אסור לבשל בחלב, חוץ מבשר דגים וחגבים. ואסור להעלותו עם הגבינה על השלחן, חוץ מבשר דגים וחגבים. הנודר מן הבשר, מתר בבשר דגים וחגבים. העוף עולה עם הגבינה…

It’s not “Mebassar dagim vechagavim” but “besar“, the flesh belonging to A and B. As the Mishna continues, unqualified “Basar” does not denote fish and locust at all.
